CONWAY,Ark.–If you are driving along I-40 in Conway, it is hard to miss a new shopping center in the works.

Some big stores are popping up on Dave Ward, saving people time and gas.

Months of construction is now leading up to more and more shops popping up along Dave Ward in Conway.

“I used to travel to Little Rock like two times every week, and now I won’t have to do that anymore,” Luis Villarreal, Conway Resident said.

“Opening Soon” signs prepare shoppers for the grand opening at the new Lewis Crossing Shopping Center.

Academy Sports, Ross, ULTA, and Michaels are some of the big names people can spot for I-40.

Other signs are already creating some foot traffic at the Dollar Tree.

“Someone told me it was open, so I came out here to see how it looks,” Villarreal said.

He’s seen Conway grow over the last 16 years.

He hopes it will continue to attract more people and businesses, and he hopes it changes the way people shop.

“I think Sam’s Club is gonna be the one that changes things for us,” Jack Bell, Conway Chief of Staff said.

Jack Bell with the City of Conway says the Collett Company developed the $65 million project, calling it a great opportunity to bring in more jobs and keep tax dollars local.

“We’d rather have them stay here and shop and eat,” Bell said. “We’ll have some new restaurants with this.”

People like Luis are already filling up their shopping bags and are happy they will be able to stay local.

“It’s just gonna bring in a lot more money in here I think,” Villarreal said. “Mayflower and other small cities will be coming to Conway now.”
