HOT SPRINGS, AR – A Garland County man is behind bars after police say he robbed a Hot Springs bank and was later found in Little Rock.
Just after 1:30 on Monday afternoon officers from the Hot Springs Police Department were called to 321 Section line Rd. Malvern National Bank for a robbery.
When officers arrived on the scene, bank employees told them that the suspect identified as Mason David Hubanks, 25, of Hot Springs walked in and out of the bank three times before approaching an employee about opening a checking account. Hubanks then handed an employee a note demanding money.
Police say the employee gave Hubanks an unrevealed amount of money and he then left the scene in a blue Ford Explorer.
Exactly an hour later a Pulaski County Sheriff’s spotted Hubanks driving the Explorer in Little Rock. The deputy said a large amount of cash was visible in the front seat of the vehicle Hubanks was driving. He was then taken into custody and is being charged with the following:
1 count of Aggravated Robbery
1 count of Attempt Aggravated Robbery
According to a report Hubanks had also gone to Bancorp South Bank and First Security Bank, both in Hot Springs and questioned employees about opening accounts there but did not attempt to rob them.
