JEFFERSON COUNTY, AR – Jefferson County Clerk Patricia Johnson has been arrested.
According to court documents, Johnson, 67, was booked into the detention center Wednesday afternoon on charges of forgery, theft of property and abuse of public trust.
In 2013, an audit revealed that Johnson gave out more than $60,000 in illegal bonuses to employees at her office.
At that time, Johnson justified the extra spending by saying employees worked overtime. But the audit found that 970 hours she listed far exceeded the number actually worked, which was 55 hours.
