LITTLE ROCK, AR – Accidents are snarling traffic in the metro area as commuters leave the city’s downtown area.
When state offices closed around 1 p.m. today, all the major interstate routes were quick to become backed up with thousands of cars entering the roads.
The Arkansas State Police was working so many accidents they asked those involved in non-injury accidents to exchange info if cars were drivable.
“Unfortunately, officers are working on a couple of accidents now so please try not to get out on the roads if you don’t absolutely have to this afternoon,” the Benton Police Department posted on its Facebook page.
Around 1:40 p.m. we received reports that people were abandoning their vehicles along N. University Avenue.
Around 2:30 p.m., the City of Little Rock tweeted:
- Temporarily closed University Ave northbound from H to Cantrell and Mississippi is closed from Cantrell to Markham.
