GARLAND COUNTY, AR – A local man is jailed in Hot Springs after a standoff with law enforcement officers.

Michael Ray Jackson, 39, was arrested Wednesday night at a home in the 100 block of McCoy Lane.

The Garland County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) says deputies had gone to the home shortly after 6 to try and serve a misdemeanor warrant on Jackson.

Jackson reportedly refused to come out and barricaded himself inside. The GCSO says he then said he would hurt himself and also made threats to law enforcement.

At some point during the ordeal, a friend of the man’s came out of the house and told officers Jackson had taken some medications and that there weapons inside the home.

Negotiators made contact with Jackson and tried to get him to come out but a tactical response team had to be called in before he was taken into custody.
