NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – As the bitter cold continues to bite its way throughout the night, one local group is offering an emergency option for those who are used to spending their nights on the street.

“The Van” is operating two emergency winter weather shelters at local churches through Thursday. Men can find a roof and heat at the Central Church of Christ on Sixth Street.

A women’s shelter is open at Levy Church of Christ in North Little Rock.

“Central Church of Christ is just amazing. For them to open their doors to allow these guys to stay warm and not die. That’s the fact of the matter,” says The Van volunteer Chris Zunino.

According to volunteers, the shelter could use gloves and winter weather hats if you have any to spare. They plan to keep the doors open through Thursday.
