Troy Lynch joined the Fox16 sports team as the weekend anchor and reporter in March 2020. Troy grew up along the sunny beaches of southern California where he played volleyball and spent as much time at the beach as possible. Instead of playing collegiate volleyball, he attended the Walter Cronkite School at Arizona State and earned a degree in sports journalism.
Troy was named a top 12 collegiate sportscaster in the country his last two years at ASU according to the STAA and won a national BEA award for his story ‘Turning Tragedy to Triumph’. During his time in college, Troy covered MLB Spring Training, the NHL, NFL, NBA, Waste Management Open, and Arizona State sports. He also worked as the in-game host for Arizona State men’s and women’s basketball and baseball for two seasons.
Five days after graduating college, Troy started at KREX 5 News in Grand Junction, Colorado as the sports director. He was there for almost two years covering the Denver Broncos, Winter X-Games, minor league baseball, Colorado Mesa University, and of course high school sports. Fun Fact: Troy went viral on the internet when he was going live for a minor league All-Star game when kids swarmed him during a live shot. The video got millions of views and was interviewed on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
While in Colorado, Troy would make the drive to Colorado Springs where he was the in-game host for Air Force football in 2019. The Falcons ended the season as the No. 22 team in the country in Troy’s only year.
In his free time, Troy likes to work out, adventure, play the piano, watch movies, tell jokes, and eat… a lot.
