LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A second lawsuit in just 24 hours has been filed against Little Rock Police Chief Keith Humphrey.
The suit brought Thursday is by Captain Marcus Paxton, who used to oversee the department’s training division.
In the suit, Paxton claims he was retaliated against by the Chief after officers in his division, testified in a hearing where Officer Charles Starks was trying to get his job back.
In February 2019 Officer Starks, a white officer, shot and killed a black man.
Pulaski County Prosecutors deemed the shooting was justified.
Starks was fired by the Chief, a decision that was later reversed by a circuit court judge.
In the lawsuit, Paxton claims that the Chief transferred him out of the training division and has been doing thing including, “ignoring his communications and demeaning him in front of other.”
In the past month, this is the fifth lawsuit brought against Humphrey by nine current LRPD officers and one LRPD civilian employee.
