FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KNWA) – A local man is jailed on a string of charges after police say he broke into his girlfriend’s apartment and threw a chair at a pet.

It happened shortly before 8 p.m. Monday on West Cheshire Court, leading to the arrest of Logan Smith, 24. 

When police arrived at the home, the woman told them that Smith had slammed her front door so hard it was knocked off the hinges. Police noted that the door was propped up against the door frame. 

Officers reported finding broken pieces of a dining room chair scattered around the apartment and damage to the floor. The woman told police that Smith had “slammed the chair down on the floor and struck her puppy.” The animal was not hurt, according to police.

The woman also told police Smith took some shirts from the bedroom. According to the report, damage was also found to the bedroom door. 

After questioning Smith, police arrested him on charges of residential burglary, criminal mischief and cruelty to animals.
