LITTLE ROCK, AR – Dozens of administrative positions are being cut by the Little Rock School District (LRSD).
The more than 60 jobs (see more in document attached above or click here) being eliminated or realigned are all with the district’s central office and not with any schools.
The action will save the district $3.5 million. It was agreed upon late last week by a finance committee appointed by the Arkansas Department of Education after the state’s takeover of the LRSD.
Superintendent Dexter Suggs says the 60 positions amount to 30 percent of the district’s central office staff.
He says the impacted employees were notified by letters mailed out on Friday which stated that their positions were not being renewed next school year.
Superintendent Suggs tells us that the district will be required to offer openings to some of the employees and that others are invited to apply for new positions.
