LITTLE ROCK, AR – A trial date has been set for professional boxer Jermain Taylor in an incident from January.

Taylor appeared before a judge via video at the Pulaski County Courthouse this morning. He pleaded not guilty in a case in which he’s accused of holding a gun to a man’s head at the MLK Day parade.

The judge set Taylor’s trial for Sept. 15.

Taylor asked the judge for 8 hours away from a rehab facility where he has been receiving treatment in order to deal with business issues. The judge denied the request.

Earlier this month, Taylor was moved to Recovery Centers of Arkansas after a circuit court decided he’s fit to stand trial in the case.

An ankle monitor keeps watch over him 24/7.

In early February, the two-time middleweight title holder was stripped of his champion status by the International Boxing Federation, due to his legal troubles, which include a second arrest in Aug. 2014 after a shooting at Taylor’s home near Maumelle that left his cousin hospitalized.
