BENTON, AR – A local man is behind bars after being accused of raping two girls.
The Benton Police Department (BNPD) says officers first took a report of an incident shortly after midnight today.
Police say during the investigation, evidence indicated that a rape had taken place and that there was possibly another juvenile victim involved.
Officers and detectives then made contact with the suspect in the case, identified as Manuel Portillo, 51.
After developing more information and evidence, Portillo was arrested and charged with 3 counts of Rape. He was then taken to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing without incident and was awaiting a bond hearing at last report.
According to the BNPD, the two victims and Portillo were acquaintances. This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be possible as it continues.
