Update (Oct. 1):
FOUKE, AR – A state prison escapee on the run since last Thursday is back in custody.
Jeremy Pifer, 35, was recaptured just before 9:30 this morning after being spotted at a convenience store.
Authorities say a woman called to report that someone was trying to break into her car. Detectives were then able to track Pifer down with police dogs.
Pifer has been on the run since last week when he ran into the woods while doing trash detail on Hwy 71 in Fouke (Miller County).
FOUKE, AR – According to the Department of Community Correction (DCC) a parolee walked away from his work site on Thursday morning.
Jeremy Pifer, 35, was part of a work crew on Highway 71 south of Fouke when he took off into a wooded area.
He is described as being 5’8″ with blue eyes, and is bald.
Pifer was sentenced out of Benton County for residential burglary. He was previously released but was brought back to the DCC as a parole violator.
The DCC says Pifer has been eligible since July 22 to be released but has not submitted an acceptable plan.
