SALINE COUNTY, AR – The Saline County Sheriff’s Office opting to settle in a civil rights case filed by a former jail inmate who alleged abuse.
Anthony Westbrook is shown in this video from May 2011 being shoved against a jail wall. Westbrook contended the officer in question was jail deputy Calvin Reed.
Westbrook filed suit against Reed and others, including the county but before it went to trial a settlement was reached.
According to attorney George Ellis, who represented the county, the settlement will be paid with public funds through a risk pool fund of which Saline County is a member.
