LAKE HAMILTON, AR — The Garland County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) released information Friday regarding the 16-year-old Lake Hamilton High School student who claims she has been sexually assaulted by three fellow students.
GCSO says the allegations in this incident involve “sexual contact,” which falls under the sexual assault second-degree statute of Arkansas law, and not “rape or any actual sex act.”
Officials with Lake Hamilton Schools have cooperated and are providing information pertinent to their investigation, and after discovery, reported the incident to the Child Abuse Hotline, as required by state law, GCSO says.
Since the incident allegedly involves teenagers, GCSO says they are limited in the amount of information they can release to the media, and once the investigation is complete, they will meet with the prosecutor to determine if any charges will be necessary.
GCSO says to protect the integrity of the investigation and the juveniles allegedly involved, no other information will be released at this time.
