BRYANT, AR – A Bryant family grieves tonight after losing their dog, but it wasn’t to natural causes. It was bitten by a snake.

And that prompted Bryant’s police chief to give a heads up to all dog owners in the area to keep a lookout for snakes.

Although it’s not that common, it’s still something to be aware of.

Tricia Power, an animal control expert, says there are a lot of species of snakes in Arkansas — but not many are venomous.

She went on to say that prevention is key.

Keep their food water and shelter as far away as possible,” Power said. “Keep the grass mowed. Keep the yard clean and tidy.”
Power also reminds us to be especially cautious if you live near water or a wooded area.
