LITTLE ROCK, AR– Closing ceremonies are held Sunday for the Arkansas Run for the Fallen Soldier.

Throughout the weekend, runners completed a 130 mile run to honor every Arkansas service member killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

“It just shows families people still care. We are still out here fighting for our soldiers and honoring them. It’s been a blessing.,” said Sam Swindle, whose brother died while serving.

Planners say the event symbolizes courage for those hoping to move forward, despite losing a loved one fighting for our country.

“Those are the people that have fought for our country and fought for our nation . I am blessed to be the mother of one and very blessed to have so many in our state,” said Elizabeth Newlun, whose son was killed.
