NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – The Arkansas Highway & Transportation Department (AHTD) says its crews will NOT get the Young Road overpass open by tonight on I-40 in North Little Rock.

Their focus has been the column that supports the bridge to see if it needs to be replaced or not after Thursday’s deadly truck crash and fire there.

All day, AHTD crews have been installing hydraulic jacks to support it for now.

They will return to the site on Saturday in hopes of getting the overpass back in service.

Once the overpass reopens, there will be a weight limit of 20 tons, which allows for everything but semis.

While traffic is running normally along the interstate, a barrier wall has been installed along the shoulder of the westbound lane under the overpass.

Drivers are warned to be extra careful when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.
