WALNUT RIDGE, AR – Lawrence County investigators have arrested a man on theft by deception charges after they say he sold $20,000 in farm equipment, then used a check from a closed account to refund the undelivered equipment.
The Portia area farmer told investigators that he contacted Trenton Hoyer several times to make good on the check but Hoyer never did.
Investigators say Hoyer has been running similar schemes in surrounding counties.
Lawrence County Sheriff Jody Dotson is urging anyone who has had business dealings with Hoyer to contact their local sheriff to make sure any items purchased are not stolen.
Hoyer’s bond was set at $30,000.
