CLARKSVILLE, Ark. (AP) — The Arkansas Forestry Commission says crews are working to contain several fires across the state.

Agency spokeswoman Sheila Doughty says firefighters on Saturday were working to stamp out blazes in Franklin, Johnson, Hempstead, Drew and Stone counties.

Doughty says there weren’t reports of injuries in any of the blazes.

Even though rain fell on parts of the state this weekend, Doughty says it wasn’t enough to tamp down the risk of wildfires.

Only two of Arkansas’ 75 counties don’t have burn bans in place.
