LITTLE ROCK, AR – Officials from the Little Rock Police Department arrested a man who they say attempted to run from arrest and then attacked an officer with a magazine from a gun Thursday.

According to reports, police pulled over a 96 Dodge Pickup Truck after the driver tried to make an incorrect left turn onto Geyer Springs Road around 1:00 pm on April 12. The front passenger, 36-year-old Robert Greer, gave police a fake name and three different ages before they placed him under arrest.

Police say that while attempting to cuff Greer, he slipped out of the cuffs and took off running down Geyer Springs Road. Police chased Greer for three blocks before tackling him to the ground, at which point he grabbed the magazine out of an officer’s gun and hit him with it. The officers eventually were able to cuff Greer and put him under arrest.

Greer was charged with attempt to commit capital murder, 2nd degree battery, fleeing, resisting arrest and obstruction of government operations.

The investigation is ongoing.
