The busiest interchange in the state of Arkansas is getting a new name but drivers will still encounter construction for years at “Big Rock Interchange” in west Little Rock.

Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department director Scott Bennett told reporters Wednesday that the 430 / 630 interchange project remains on track for a 2014 completion.

AHTD does want drivers to be aware of some recent change of traffic patterns in the construction zone during the holidays.

Shackleford Road is now running one lane northbound and four lanes southbound.  Bennett says that configuration will not change until early 2012.

The project is currently in the $78 million third phase of a three phase project.

The AHTD website now features an animation showing drivers how traffic will flow through the area once construction wraps up.
