Arrest Made in University of AR Off Campus Murder Investigation

FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KNWA) – University of Arkansas Police have arrested a man in connection with a month-long murder investigation.

Bodie Dickson, 40, has been charged with second degree murder in the death of David Henry Fox, Jr, 53.

FAYETTEVILLE, AR, (KNWA) -Police have identified the body of a man found Sunday morning as, David Henry Fox, Jr, 53. University of Arkansas police are investigating the homicide that happened in South Fayetteville between South Indian Trail and Razorback Road. As of Thursday night there are no suspects in custody.

“Previously they (the Fayetteville Police Department) had gotten a call and they had dispatched officers to an area of a deceased person in the woods,” says Captain Gary Crain, University of Arkansas Police.

The Sunday morning call sent University of Arkansas and Fayetteville police into a murder investigation.

Captain Crain says (the) “preliminary report from the state crime lab details this situation as being a homicide by blunt force trauma.”

Officers say the body of Fox was discovered in a wooded area being leased by the University of Arkansas at South Indian Trail and Razorback Road.

“In the past, there have been individuals out in that area with tents and camp sites set up,” says Crain. “Some of them have been described as being homeless in the past.”

A toothbrush and a mirror are just a few of the many items found out here in the middle of the woods where police say homeless people flock to.

Crain says, “this area is not a camping ground and over the years there have been efforts to assist these individuals with finding other locations.”

With little leads, detectives hope to learn more from questioning persons of interest.

“The investigators will be interviewing various people that they might have some information about that situation,” says Crain.

Police said Fox did drive his car to a nearby parking lot before he was murdered. They have not said if the victim is homeless. If you have any information regarding this case, you are you are urged to call UAPD.
