EL DORADO, AR (KTVE) – The El Dorado Police Department has honored its retirees with a special event.

Current officers hosted a pancake breakfast for the retirees to remind that even though they are no longer physically on the force, they are still part of the police department family.

Widows of fallen officers also took part.

Captain Kevin Holt says this is just a small gesture to show how much these retirees mean to the department and to the city.

“It’s our opportunity to keep in touch and let them know how important they are today, and how important the work they did back in the day was to the city and to the police department. They’ve paved the way for a lot of these young officers, myself included, on the job, and learning how to do the job,” he says.

The police department plans on making this pancake breakfast an annual event.
