TEXARKANA, AR – Two murder suspects who escaped from the Miller County Jail Monday morning are back in custody.
The Miller County Sheriff’s Office says that 23-year-old Cortez Hooper and 36-year-old Quincy Stewart were arrested Thursday and are back in the county jail.
The pair was last seen in their jail cell Monday around 3am. Police believe they used a hacksaw to escape. Stewart’s mother, Charlene Stewart, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of providing the hacksaw blades for the escape.
Hooper is from Texarkana, Arkansas, and was jailed on a charge of first-degree murder, assault and probation violation. Stewart is from Texarkana, Texas, and was being held on a capital murder charge in Bowie County. He’s also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
The Miller County Sheriff’s Office says they will be holding a news conference about the capture at 10am Friday.
