BENTONVILLE, AR (KNWA) – Jury selection is underway for the high profile capital murder trial of Zachary Holly.

The prosecution and the defense are faced with the challenge of assigning 12 people to the jury to fairly try Holly, who is accused of in the 2012 rape and murder of six-year-old Jersey Bridgeman, who lived on his street. Three alternate jurors will also be chosen.

One woman, a mother of two, immediately got emotional after she was chosen to serve on the jury. She’s one of four jurors assigned to this case Monday. The other three are men.

Judge Brad Karen has arranged for the jury selection process to be split up in 15 groups, and four groups will be questioned each day.

Judge Karen says he expects opening statements to begin as early as Friday morning.
