FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KNWA) — A new trial date is set for a former Razorback football player accused of killing a friend.

Police arrested Joshua Melton, 33, back in August.

Officers say he went into a rage after a night of drinking and punched Michael Gover multiple times. Gover, 30, of West Fork, was later found dead in Melton’s home on Copper Ridge Lane.

Melton pleaded not guilty to second degree murder in October.

According to the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office, his trial was delayed on Friday.

The prosecutor says the delay is a result of some outstanding investigative reports. Melton will now stand trial on April 21.

Joshua Melton was an Offensive lineman for the Razorbacks from 1998 to 2002.
