JACKSON, TN – Two local men charged in last week’s shooting death of an ASU football player and his stepfather have been ordered held without bond.
Derrick Wade, 22, and his cousin, Johnny Wade, 19, are behind bars in the Madison County Jail.
They appeared before a judge today via video link. They are scheduled to return to Jackson City Court in person for a Jan. 30 arraignment hearing.
The Wade’s are accused in the killings of ASU senior Markel Owens, 21, and his stepdad Johnny Shivers, 36 during a home invasion.
Both suspects are charged with two counts of felony murder, especially aggravated robbery of Shivers, attempted first-degree murder of Chermaine Owens (Markel’s mother), aggravated assault of a 16-year-old boy and tampering with evidence.
