LITTLE ROCK, AR — Residents in a normally quite apartment complex in Little Rock’s Hillcrest neighborhood say the sound of a gunshot and police sirens woke them early Saturday morning.

“It’s a little scary because this is the first time since I’ve been here,” said resident A.J. Hughes. “We hadn’t had anything like that happen.”

Little Rock Police would only confirm they responded to a “robbery of an individual” around 12:30am.

But a witness who spoke off camera said she called police after a frantic neighbor said three men attacked her boyfriend.

The resident also says she saw emergency responders treating a man who was bleeding from the back of his head.

“I usually walk around and nothing happens,” said resident Nithilee Pineda.  “It’s a calm neighborhood.”

Pineda lives nearby and also missed all the commotion, but now worries for her safety.

“I never thought that something like that could happen here,” she said.

The witness said the guy involved was beaten up pretty bad, but she says he was treated at the scene and did not have to go to the hospital.
