LITTLE ROCK, AR – Three people have died in separate Easter Sunday accidents that involved motorcycles and an ATV.
The most recent accident happened in Ozark (Franklin County) shortly after 8 p.m.
The victim is identified by Arkansas State Police (ASP) as Christopher Bennett, 44, of Ozark, who was driving a 2013 Harley-Davidson. Troopers say he was killed on Highway 23 when he failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the median, went into a ditch and hit a tree. A passenger on the bike with him was injured but there’s no further information on their condition.
The second fatal accident happened about two hours earlier in Garland County on Highway 270 West at Thornton Ferry Road.
The ASP identifies the victim as Nicholas Rice, 26, of Hot Springs, driver of a 1997 Suzuki GF6 motorcycle headed east on 270 west.
The accident report states that Rice’s bike was hit head-on by a 1999 Olds 88 that was turning off of Thornton Ferry Rd. onto Highway 270. The driver of the car was not hurt.
The third deadly accident on Sunday happened in El Dorado shortly after 6 p.m. and claimed the life of a local teen who was riding on an ATV.
It happened on Lakeland St. near the intersection with Houston Street.
Arkansas State Police identify the victim as Shakena Ford, 18.
According to the accident report, Ford was riding on the back of the ATV that was being driven by Antquese Frazier, 19, who was injured in the accident. There’s no further information on his condition.
The report states that Frazier lost control of the ATV, overcorrected and hit a tree.
