CARROLL COUNTY, AR – Two armed robbery suspects are in custody after what officials describe as the result of
cooperation between area law enforcement and local news media.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) commends KTHS Radio, the Arkansas State Police, and Green Forest Police Department for their vital assistance to its patrol deputies and investigators in making the quick arrests.

According to a news release, the holdup happened about 5 p.m. on Monday at the Hugh Mini Mart in Green Forest. That’s where a white male was reported to have walked into the store, raised his shirttail showing the employee what appeared to be a pistol in his waist band, and demanded cash. The employee gave the suspect money from the cash register and he left as the passenger in a dark-colored vehicle. As the vehicle was leaving, the employee was able to take a picture of it with her cellphone.

The news release states that an Arkansas State Police trooper remembered that in late February, the ASP had issued a warning for a broken taillight cover to a vehicle matching the description. Using their reporting system, the address of the registered owner of the vehicle was used to try to locate the vehicle. The ASP and Green Forest Police were able to find the vehicle about three blocks from the previously given address, inside the Green Forest city limits.

Based on eyewitness accounts, physical and digital evidence recovered at the scene, and physical evidence recovered at the home, CCSO deputies and investigators made probable cause arrests of two suspects.

They’re identified as Christopher Wayne Barker, 45, of Green Forest. He’s initially been charged with Aggravated Robbery, Possession of Firearm by Certain Person, Theft, and Commercial Burglary.

The other suspect is identified as Travis Arron Boling, 19, of Green Forest. He has initially been charged with Aggravated Robbery, Theft, and Commercial Burglary.

The suspect vehicle was towed to the CCSO for further processing.
