JACKSONVILLE, AR — Six years later — a local mother is still desperate for answers in the murder of her 18-year-old daughter.
In the early hours of August 15th, 2008 a man shot Danick Adams — at a Jacksonville fitness club — then stole her car.
At first, police say he asked for her phone and money, then wanted more.
Adams’ mother, Amy Stivers said, “Then he demanded the car and she said ‘no’ and he ripped off his mask and he shot her three times and she went to run and he got her two more times in the back.”
Police later found the car, but the suspect ran off.
Officers never caught up with him.
Adams left behind her one year old daughter and devastated mother who called the first years — after the murder — unbearable.
Stivers didn’t want to live.
She said, “It’s a pain, it’s indescribable. I can’t even tell you how horrible that pain inside your chest is.”
A couple years after the murder of her daughter though, Stivers decided to get help.
She found the support she needed through an organization called Parents of Murdered Children.
She said, “You feel so crazy all the time and it helps when you come in here and you can share your story with other people.”
Twice a month, parents who lost their children, meet to talk to each other and to try and cope with their struggles.
Stivers now leads the group.
She said, “It’s made me have a purpose in my life and now I believe my purpose is to go out there and save other mothers and survivors of homicide.”
One of Adams’ friends was with her the day she got murdered and witnessed the crime.
Even with her information, police have not been able to find the suspect.

A Jacksonville police spokeswoman says the case is still open.
There’s a $5000 reward leading to an arrest.
