HELENA, AR — The Arkansas State Police is continuing its investigation into a shooting that left a Helena officer wounded Thursday night.

According to reports, Helena – West Helena officers arrived at the 600 block of West Cleburne Street to execute a search warrant around 5:20 p.m.

They were met with gunfire, and Matthew Jarrett, a Helena Officer, was hit. He was then transported to a Memphis hospital where police say he is in stable condition.

David and Charlie Randle, who were at the residence, were also injured during the shooting.

David Randle was treated and released, while Charlie Randle remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Once the Arkansas State Police has finished its investigation, they will hand it over to the Phillips County Prosecuting Attorney to determine whether the use of deadly force was necessary and whether there will be files charged against the individual (s) who fired at police.

Local officers in Helena were executing a search warrant Thursday when the incident occurred.

According to ASP, the officer was shot and is in the hospital.
