NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – A North Little Rock woman has died after her fiance poured gasoline on her and set her on fire.
That’s according to the North Little Rock Police Department, which arrested Matthew Wayne Nichols, 46, on Monday night, charging him with domestic battery.
Jessie McFadden, who police say had suffered burns to 90-percent of her body, died overnight.
The incident happened around 5:20 Monday night at 219 Water Street in the Rose City area.
Witnesses told police they saw smoke coming from the home and went there to see if anyone needed help. They reported seeing the woman already on fire and watching Nichols pour gasoline on her burning body as she was on the ground.
Police say the case has been turned over to the prosecutor’s office, who will determine upgraded charges against Nichols.
