Update: Damage Estimated at $450,000 in Little Rock Storage Facility Arson

LITTLE ROCK, AR — Little Rock firefighters check around the Riverdale Mini-Storage, looking out for hot spots.

They can’t help but pass by thousands of dollars in charred belongings.

“It’s disappointing but it is what it is and it’s just property.  It’s not people,” said Melanie Fox, who rents four units at the storage.

Fox stored furniture and pictures in one of the ten units destroyed.  She kept those household pieces that she wanted to pass on to her children when they moved out.

Now she’s got to start over.

“I’m actually going to have to think hard to remember what I had here,” she said.

As firefighters extinguished the blaze, they noticed a cut in the fence and assumed an arsonist slashed it, got inside, opened up some of the units, and torched the building.

On-site manager Paula Childers says she checks the facility randomly and keeps the lights and cameras on.  She hates she missed the intruder.

“I did call the other managers that have storage facilities in the area,” Childers said.

James Frank with Ozark Outdoor Supply reflects on all the boating equipment he’s lost in the blaze.

“We’ve got a few people looking at boats that are down here so we’re going to have to figure something out,” Frank said.

If you have any information on the fire, call the Little Rock Police Department.
