CONWAY, AR– An investigation into a stolen vehicle led police to an alleged theft ring as well as a high speed chase.
Around 9:30 Sunday morning, Conway officers say they were notified by the OnStar vehicle security company of a possible stolen truck from Rosebud on Stout Street in Conway.
They encountered several people outside the residence.
Police say William Hawks fled from officers on foot but was taken into custody.
Marissa Cummings is accused of fleeing in a truck.
Officers say they pursued Cummings, with speeds exceeding 110 MPH at times, out of the Conway city limits and into Van Buren County.
The 30-mile pursuit ended when the truck ran out of gas.
Cummings then surrendered without further incident, according to police.
They say further investigation revealed a multi-jurisdictional theft ring that involved vehicles, guns and other property.
Conway police say they recovered 2 trucks, 1 utility vehicle, 3 firearms, a laptop computer, a printer, and a license plate.
The property recovered was stolen out of Conway, White County, Rosebud, North Little Rock Police Department and Sherwood Police Department.
A majority of the property was stolen within the last 24 hours and has already been returned to the listed owners.
Hawks had active felony warrants stemming from CPD’s vehicle pursuit with the black Nissan Titan on 7/25/2013.
Conway police say they also recovered drug paraphernalia from the scene.
During the pursuit, CPD was assisted by the Arkansas State Police, Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office and Damascus Police Department.
The investigation is continuing.
Police say further arrests may be made in the future.
