Elderly Man Killed in Jefferson County House Fire

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AR – An elderly man has been killed in a house fire.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) says James Havis Findley, 91, died in the blaze at 7006 Whiteville Rd. 

It happened around 10:30 a.m. and the JCSO says the home was engulfed in flames when deputies and the Highway 15 Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene.

Volunteer fire personnel from Watson Chapel, White Hall, and Southeast also helped put out the fire. 

Deputies say the source of the fire has yet to be determined and no evidence to suggest foul play has been discovered.

Criminal investigators from the JCSO were called to the scene and will conduct the fire investigation.
