HOT SPRINGS, AR- During the past several weeks Lake Hamilton has been experiencing thefts from boats at night, according to the Garland County Sheriff’s office.
These individuals are stealing batteries, electronics, and anything of value that may be left in the boat.
The Sheriffs Department is working to apprehend those responsible for these thefts.
Authorities are recommending that each boat owner take special precautions to secure their property.
Boat owners remove any items of value that can be easily removed..
Boats should also be locked to their docks with a strong cable or chain.
It is also recommended that each boat owner “personalize” their batteries by placing some method of identification on the equipment.
All dock owners should ensure that they have adequate lighting on their docks.
Motion sensor floodlights provide a very effective means of lighting docks while saving energy.
The Garland County Sheriffs Office is asking every boat and dock owner on Lake Hamilton takes these precautions.
