LITTLE ROCK, AR – An escapee from the State Hospital has been caught.
The man, whose name has not been released, was taken back into custody on Thursday morning, according to Amy Webb with the Department of Human Services (DHS).
Webb says after the man escaped, an off-duty public safety officer from the hospital saw him out in the community and went to get help to capture him.
The officer also saw the man’s car, but by the time he returned with help, the man was gone.
A search of the neighborhood followed and after the man’s car was found, local law enforcement officers were able to capture the man and take him into custody.
DHS says before the escape the man was one day away from being discharged to an unidentified law enforcement agency.
