Transmission Line Freezes, Discolors Water for Some NLR Customers

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR (News release) – Central Arkansas Water (CAW) customers in areas of North Little Rock are experiencing discolored water after a 30-inch diameter water transmission line that serves the area partially froze Sunday night.

Utility crews were notified of the occurrence at approximately 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, and have since been working to flush the mains to remove the discoloration.

CAW advised affected customers to refrain from washing clothes during the discoloration.

CAW crews continue to flush the affected water mains and expect that the discoloration will be eliminated throughout the day on Tuesday. The discolored water is affecting customers north of I-40, west of Highway 107 (JFK Blvd.) and in the Crystal Hill area.
