LITTLE ROCK, AR – Tonight’s Mega Millions® jackpot has jumped again from $586 million to an estimated $636 million (cash option of $341 million).
It’s the highest it has been since March 2012, when the game set the all-time U.S. lottery jackpot record of $656 million.
The Mega Millions® jackpot has been won ten times (so far) in 2013, Friday night’s drawing marked the twenty first time it has been drawn without a jackpot winner, so will it be tonight? There are just five more drawings to be held in 2013.
If one ticket matches all six numbers for the $636 million mega-jackpot, the winner will have the choice of receiving the full jackpot amount in 30 annual payments, or a cash option currently estimated at $341 million before taxes.
“The strong sales of Mega Millions® tickets mean more than just an exciting jackpot,” said Bishop Woosley, Director of the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. “They mean greater profits to benefit each state in which Mega Millions® is played.”
This jackpot has steadily grown since the Oct. 1 drawing, when Mega Millions® had its most recent jackpot winner. The Mega Millions® has now rolled 21 times without a jackpot winner.
The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately one in 259 million. The odds of winning any of the Mega Millions® prizes are approximately 1 in 15.
The $1 Megaplier® option give players a chance to win up to $5 Million (with the 5X) for correctly matching all of the white ball numbers and not the Mega Ball, the odds are 1 in 18,492.204. If a player chooses the Megaplier® option $1 will be added to the cost of each play.
Mega Millions® drawings are held Tuesday and Friday evenings at 10 p.m. Central Time. Profits from every Mega Millions® ticket sold in Arkansas remain in the state.
All net proceeds of the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery go to fund college scholarships for Arkansas students at in-state two- or four-year institutions of higher learning.
