LITTLE ROCK, AR — The Little Rock Police Department has fired an officer who is charged with manslaughter in connection to the shooting of a 15-year-old boy, FOX16 has learned.

”On Friday, October 19th at around 11:00 am. Josh Hastings’ employment with the Little Rock Police Department was terminated,” Little Rock Police Spokesperson Sgt. Cassandra Davis said in a statement.

“The bases for his termination were the violation of several departmental polices. No further comment will be made in reference to his termination until all appeals have been exhausted. Those appeals include any Administrative appeals, Civil Service, Circuit or Supreme Court appeals that might apply.”

According to police, Hastings was responding to a suspicious persons call on August 12 when he shot and killed 15-year-old Bobby Moore Jr. Hastings was charged with felony manslaughter on September 7. Hastings has pleaded not guilty.

Little Rock Police Chief Stuart Davis said that evidence from the scene contradicted Hastings assertion that Moore was driving toward him when he fired.

Hastings next court appearance is set for January.
