NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – Officials from the North Little Rock Police Department are investigating a single car accident that left one man dead late Tuesday night.
According to reports, police responded to an accident involving a Chevy Cavalier at 9000 Batesville Pike. The driver, 23-year-old Joe Smith of Sherwood, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Smith was traveling northbound on Batesville Pike when his vehicle crossed the center line, left the roadway and struck a tree. Preliminary investigation indicates that Smith was not wearing a seatbelt and may have been texting while driving at the time of the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
