Radio hosts take their show online

LITTLE ROCK, AR – Losing your job can crumple your whole world, but one couple says it is the perfect time to pursue their real dream. Radio hosts Sam and Craig have taken their show from over the air, to online.

Craig and Sam (in the morning) were laid off from kHITs 96.5 the Monday after Thanksgiving. With more than 2,000 radio personalities laid off throughout the country, the couple had to move quickly.

“They say opportunity knocks, that’s not true,” says Samantha Adams. “You have to go out and find that sucker and he’s hiding.”

Within hours the duo gathered a sound board and a couple microphones out of the storage closet and got back on the “air.”

“When I started doing this 25 years ago, it would take probably a couple million dollars to start a radio station from scratch. This week I did it for less than $500,” says Craig Adams.

That money paid for a license agreement with Live365 Online Radio, which got the Craig and Sam show streaming live for fans in Central Arkansas and beyond.

“We’re absolutely everywhere. We’re no longer restricted to a tower’s strength or a signal. There is no fading away. This is really the future of radio says Sam.

The now online radio hosts call getting laid off the best thing that could have happened to them.

“Getting fired wasn’t a disaster, it was an awakening,” says Craig.

That is saying a lot, coming from a married couple who just lost both their incomes.

“When you find yourself in a situation where you have no other options and you feel like you’re trapped, you have to make a door and get out of it and find another way to make things happen,” says Sam.

While radio broadcasts compete to play more songs than the other stations, Craig and Sam are bringing back what they say the industry has lost: Personality.

“We know Ryan Seacrest doesn’t know how to call the hogs.”
