MAUMELLE, AR – Police have apprehended a teen who they say a teen escaped the Methodist Behavioral Hospital and later returned brandishing a handgun Tuesday morning.
According to a release, officials from the Maumelle Police Department received several calls from residents in the Rolling Oaks subdivision saying that they’d seen a subject matching the description of the teen, who was reported to have escaped from the Methodist Behavioral Hospital early Tuesday morning, only to return a few hours later with a gun before disappearing again.
Police searched the area and found the teen on Vantage Drive. The suspect was arrested after a brief foot chase and standoff, during which he reportedly held a gun to his own head several times, but did not harm himself.
The suspect is being held at the Maumelle Police headquarters, pending formal charges.
