LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Entergy Arkansas says more than 189,000 customers are without power after a Christmas Day winter storm covered the state in snow and ice.
The outages comprise more than a quarter of Entergy’s customers statewide.
The utility says it’s called in extra workers to deal with the outages Wednesday but has provided no timetable for when power could be restored.
Pulaski County had the highest number of outages, at more than 92,000.
The National Weather Service says 9 inches of snow fell Tuesday in Little Rock. North Little Rock recorded 10 inches.
The snow tapered off in the pre-dawn hours in central Arkansas on Wednesday, but a blizzard warning remains in place for northeast Arkansas until 9 a.m.
