CONWAY, AR – Police are working to identify suspects in two business robberies.

Security footage and pictures have investigators asking if the cases are related.

“Just going to be aware of what’s going on. Just looking around,” says Duane Evans, who lives in Conway.

Like Duane, others in the city are double checking their surroundings after a string of armed robberies.

“They were the same type of robbery, about the same time and the suspect description was a bit similar,” says LaTresha Woodruff, spokesperson for the Conway Police Department.

She adds that an employee of a Dollar General store on East Oak Street was held up at gunpoint on Wednesday night. Then, on Thursday, an employee at the Dollar Tree on Dave Ward Drive also became a robbery victim.

“The person in both cases wore dark clothing. In one case they said black, in the other they said dark clothes. In both cases that the person is a black male about six feet tall,” Woodruff says.

Security camera footage caught both crimes. The suspect got away with cash from both stores.

“These types of stores, they get a lot of business and a lot of money generated during the day and people know that. So, they need to be really cautious,” adds Woorduff.

For Duane, he says he will be on his toes until the suspect is behind bars.

“Normally, I try to check my surroundings, make sure no one is standing near my vehicle or just lurking around in the parking lot,” he says.

The Conway Police Department is analyzing the security footage to get a more accurate suspect description.
