GARLAND COUNTY, AR — A man being held in jail for a parole violation is back in prison and after he and another inmate tried to escape from the Garland County Jail.
According to the Garland County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO), 33-year-old Richard McCoy and 28-year-old Ryan Rimmer, both trustees in the Garland County Detention Center, were being escorted by deputies as they were pushing a food cart at 6:15 Friday morning, when they both ran away.
GCSO says they were both caught a short time later near the intersection of Highways 70 and 270 West.
McCoy was being held on a parole violation stemming from a failure to appear charge, and has now been taken to the Arkansas Department of Correction on the parole hold, according to GCSO.
Rimmer was being held on a probation violation stemming from theft charges, and is back in the Garland County Detention Center.
