BENTON, AR – Two Benton men are behind bars after police say they were involved in an argument with weapons.

Police were called to the 3500 block of Silica Heights Rd. just before 6:30 on Wednesday on a disturbance call involving weapons.

When officers arrived on the scene they spoke with the two suspects identified as Joseph Williams, 33, and Brandon Dobbs, 35.

Williams told police he became upset about an on-going problem with children playing in the street in the area and yelled at them to move.

According to both suspects, Dobbs went over to Williams’ home to speak with him about the situation when they became involved in a verbal argument.

Police say Williams and Dobbs then began physically threatening one another. Williams reportedly had a baton at first and then grabbed a shotgun that he pointed towards Dobbs. According to a report Dobbs then grabbed a rifle and pointed it towards Williams.

Police arrested both of the men and they were taken to the Saline County Detention Facility. Both are charged with Aggravated Assault and Disorderly Conduct. he firearms were taken and entered into evidence in the case.
