3rd Reopening of the Year for Pulaski County Jail

LITTLE ROCK, AR – More than a month after its most recent closing this year due to overcrowding, the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility (PCRDF) is set to reopen tonight at 6 with a headcount of 1,103.

The jail was closed for the third time this year on Aug. 26 when its population reached 1,287.

Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Carl Minden says the funded capacity is 1,210.

In late April, early July, and again in late August, the PCRDF was closed when overcrowding became dangerous for the staff and inmates.

At those times, the PCRDF received some relief from the state, but only enough to remain open for a few weeks at a time.
